Our family homes
Most of the owners do allow to bring pets to the houses, however we should pay respect to the wishes and possible complaints of others. Therefore all the houses where pets are allowed, are marked with a special sign, showing a white dog on a blue background. The Beach
On the wide and sandy beach, about 20 kilometres in length, you can take your dog for a long, long walk and have him splash into the water as well. There are no limits to that, even on private- or hotel-owned parts of the coast no complaints are heard. Nowhere in Spain you will find these large areas of sandy dunes and beaches.
This too, is for us one of the most important reasons to spend our holidays more than once a year here in Riumar. Even in the Riumar bay dogs are allowed. However during weekends in July and August we advise our guests to keep their pets away from the family beach and move a bit further, following the signs " Lagune" or "Sportzone". This is due to the fact, that during the weekends in july and august the family beach at Riumar is visited by inhabitants with little children of the surroundings more than on week days.
"Fairplay" is the keyword. Anyway, there is still a good 20 kilometres of beach for your walk on days like these. By the way, showers can be found along the entire beach.
 
     
 
     
 
The holiday season
The actual holiday season goes from April until October and we find the majority of the dog-keeping families spending their holidays mostly during the less hotter months like May,June or September and October . They seem to be avoiding the summer heat and rather enjoy average temperatures of 23-25° degrees. However, during the hot summer months the heat is made bearable by a nice meditteranean summer breeze. Nevertheless, one should not underestimate the intensity of the heat and sun protection should prevail. This counts for dogs too, so we recommend to have them sit under a sunshade and to give them enough water to drink.
 

  
 
According to a lot of our regular visitors who'd spent their first holidays here during the hotter months, the "Easter or autumn periods" turned out to be the most peaceful and wonderful time to be here, as well as for the kids as for their pets.

     

Your journey to Riumar
Your journey to Riumar by car will take between approximately 10 hours from the southern part of Germany and about 15 hours if you come from up north (Paris).
 
     
 
Most of the people who take their pet(s) along with them to Riumar usually get on their way on friday in the afternoon or later in the evening, not having to cope with the summer heat and instead taking advantage of the chillness during the nighttime.
In the south of France you can find a lot of recommendable and fair priced hotels right next to the motorway. Dogs are allowed here too. South of Lyon, at the departure Montellimar-Nord, we strongly recommend the ETAP/ IBIZ hotels. Here we always experience great hospitality as well as tolerance when it comes to taking dogs on our hotel room.
Pricing and comfort are excellent (for example: family rooms for 4 persons + dog rate 60 €/ a night) and after a good night sleep you'll be glad to continue your journey to Riumar relaxed and well rested.
